Regulations
Maritime matters in Singapore are regulated by the following Acts established by Parliament:
Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore Act
An Act that regulates port and seaward activities as well as the provision of such services and facilities.
Merchant Shipping Act
An Act that regulates merchant shipping, crew safety, liability of ship owners, ship safety and other matters.
Merchant Shipping (Civil Liability and Compensation for Oil Pollution) Act
An Act that provides for compulsory insurance for shipowner's liability for oil pollution damages and the compensation of such damages.
Prevention of Pollution of the Sea Act
An Act aimed at prevention, reduction and control of pollution of the sea and pollution from ships, as well as protection of the marine environment.
