MAKING PUBLIC TRANSPORT THE CHOICE MODE
img_land_Public-Transport

To meet increasing travel demand in future, a higher proportion of our travel needs will have to be met by public transport. It is therefore vital to make public transport a choice mode of transport for Singaporeans.

The Land Transport Master Plan 2013 set out goals to be achieved by 2030. A key goal is to increase the peak hour public transport mode share to 75%.

Last year, the peak hour public transport mode share rose to 67%, up from 64% in 2013. This reaffirms that policies made in 2008 are on the right track.

To make public transport the choice mode of transport, we are enhancing our public transport system to make it more attractive to Singaporeans and a viable alternative to the car. By strengthening the integration of our public transport system, commuters should be able to benefit from:

  • Seamless and convenient transfers
  • Easily accessible services
  • Reliable and comfortable travel journeys
  • Competitive journey time relative to cars
  • Affordable fares
