Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Mr Khaw Boon Wan Attends the 31st Regular Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly

1.     Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Mr Khaw Boon Wan will lead the Singapore delegation to the 31st Regular Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly, from 25 to 29 November 2019 in London, the United Kingdom.

2.     At the biennial IMO Assembly, transport ministers and senior maritime officials from around the world will address various maritime policy and regulatory issues.  The Assembly will also hold an election for the 40-member Council of the IMO.[1]  Singapore will be seeking re-election to the IMO Council at the upcoming Assembly session.

3.     During his visit, Minister Khaw will meet with his counterparts from other IMO Member States, and Mr Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of the IMO, to discuss transport issues and developments.

4.     Minister Khaw will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Transport and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
