300,000 Needy Households to Receive Public Transport Vouchers

1. To help needy families cope with the fare increase announced today, the Government will draw down $9 million from the Public Transport Fund to provide these households with 300,000 Public Transport Vouchers. This is the largest Public Transport Voucher exercise to date.
2. Each Public Transport Voucher is worth $30 and can be used to purchase or top up fare cards, or buy monthly concession passes.
3. Application for Public Transport Vouchers will open from 12 November 2018 to 31 October 2019. Households can apply for the vouchers at their local community centres/clubs (CCs) at any point during the exercise. Applicant households will be notified of their application results by mail from December 2018. Successful households are entitled to one Public Transport Voucher. Households that require more help can apply for additional vouchers through the CCs. The Citizens’ Consultative Committees (CCCs) will assess and provide additional Public Transport Vouchers to households whom they deem to need more help.
4. Residents may approach their grassroots leaders or their local CCs if they have any queries.
