Appointment of Members to the Public Transport Council

1.     Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, has appointed 16 members to the Public Transport Council (PTC) for the period between 1 May 2019 and 30 April 2022. The Council will continue to be chaired by Mr Richard Magnus and will comprise members from academic institutions, business, grassroots organisations, labour unions, and professional services. Of the 16 members, five are newly appointed. They are:

• Dr Lynette Cheah, 谢宛庭Assistant Professor, Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)

• Mr Lim Bok Ngam, 林木岩Retired Public Servant

• Mr Lim Boon Wee, 林文威Deputy Secretary (Services), Ministry of Education

• Ms Rahayu MahzamAssociate Director, Heng Leong & Srinivasan LLC

• Mr Thuvinder Singh s/o Bachan SinghGeneral Secretary, Union of Telecoms Employees of Singapore

2.     PTC’s mission is to keep public transport fares affordable for commuters while ensuring sustainability of the public transport system. It also strives to improve service quality and travel experience of commuters by providing objective and evidence-based advice to the Government.

3.     The following members will step down from the PTC with effect from 1 May 2019:
