Dr Hamid Razak asked the Minister for Transport
a. what are the average peak hour journey times and schedule adherence of bus services plying Jurong East Avenue 1 and Jurong West Avenue 1; and
b. what alternative bus priority approaches LTA is exploring following the Smart Bus Priority System trial along this corridor.
Reply by Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow
1. Of the nine bus services plying Jurong East Avenue 1 and Jurong West Avenue 1, six met their baseline performance standards in terms of excess wait times and on-time adherence. The remaining three services exceeded their respective baseline performance standards marginally, and LTA is working with the operators to improve their performance.
2. Along Jurong East and West Avenue 1, yellow boxes and bus priority boxes are already in place for most bus stops. Based on latest measurements, bus travel times through these roads are comparable to that of private vehicles during peak.
