Common Complaints on Disamenities Caused by Foreign-Registered Vehicles
15 October 2025
Dr Charlene Chen asked the Acting Minister for Transport with regard to foreign-registered vehicles
a. what are the most common types of complaints and feedback received about disamenities in recent years; and
b. what enforcement and deterrent measures are in place to address issues such as noise, illegal waiting in non-designated areas and occupation of residential parking spaces, particularly by delivery trucks and motorcycles.
Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:
1. The most common feedback received on disamenities caused by foreign vehicles is on illegal parking and pollutive emissions.
2. LTA, NEA and the Traffic Police conduct regular joint enforcement operations along our roads. For example, drivers of vehicles that fail emissions test will be given a composition sum on the spot. The same enforcement and deterrence measures for illegal parking are imposed on all vehicles, regardless of whether they are local or foreign-registered.
3. Members of the public who have feedback on foreign vehicles on the road are encouraged to reach out to the relevant agencies.
