1. Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan will lead the Singapore delegation to the 30th Regular Session of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Assembly in London, the United Kingdom, from 27 November to 1 December 2017.
2. At the biennial IMO Assembly, transport ministers and senior maritime officials from around the world will address various maritime policy and regulatory issues. The Assembly will also hold an election for the 40-member Council of the IMO1. Singapore will be seeking re-election to the IMO Council at the upcoming Assembly session.
3. During his visit, Minister Khaw will meet with his counterparts from other IMO Member States, and Mr Kitack Lim, Secretary-General of the IMO, to discuss issues of mutual interest and the enhancement of transport co-operation.
4. Minister Khaw will be accompanied by senior officials from the Ministry of Transport and the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.
