Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Mr Khaw Boon Wan to Lead the Singapore Delegation to the 5th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) World Aviation Forum and 40th ICAO Assembly

1. Co-ordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport Mr Khaw Boon Wan will lead the Singapore delegation to the 5th International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO1) World Aviation Forum and the 40th Session of the ICAO Assembly from 22 September to 4 October 2019 in Montréal,Canada.
2. At the Assembly, transport ministers and civil aviation officials from around the world will address a wide range of civil aviation policy and regulatory issues. The Assembly will also hold an election for the 36-member Council of the ICAO, which is the governing body of the ICAO. Prior to the Assembly, the ICAO will be holding its 5th World Aviation Forum to discuss innovation and developments in aviation worldwide.
3. Singapore will be seeking re-election2 to the ICAO Council at this upcoming Assembly session. In addition to the ICAO Council, Singapore is also a member of the Air Navigation Commission, a technical advisory body to the ICAO Council, and actively participates in over 100 ICAO expert bodies, holding leadership positions in around 20 of these, to advance the development of international civil aviation.
4. While in Montréal, Minister Khaw will meet with ICAO Council President Dr Olumuyiwa Benard Aliu and ICAO Secretary-General Dr Liu Fang, and his counterparts and other officials from ICAO Member States and civil aviation organizations, to discuss transport issues and developments.
5. Minister Khaw will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Transport and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
