Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Transport with respect to the published figures on average loading of trips for City Direct Services 654, 671, 677 and 682
a. how is loading measured;
b. what bus capacity is used as the denominator for each bus service; and
c. what capacity is adopted for (i) single-decker (ii) double decker and (iii) articulated buses, respectively.
Reply by Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow
1. Average loading for a City Direct Service is calculated by comparing average ridership based on ticketing data across all trips, against the passenger capacity of the buses deployed for each trip of that service.
2. The passenger capacities range from 80 to 90 for single-deck buses, 120 to 139 for double-deck buses, and 131 for articulated buses, depending on model and design.
