Joint Press Release by MOT and PA: Increase in Value of Public Transport Vouchers from $60 to $80

1.              To help cushion the impact of the fare increase for lower-income households, the Government will raise the quantum of Public Transport Vouchers (PTVs) from $60 to $80 per household. We will also adjust the income eligibility ceiling for PTVs from $1,800 per capita to $2,100. Around 4 in 10 households will qualify for a voucher, an increase of about 60,000 households. Households can use PTVs to top up fare cards or purchase monthly passes following the public transport fare adjustment that will take effect from 26 December 2026.

2.              Similar to the 2025 PTV Exercise, there will be two stages for the 2026 PTV Exercise. In the first stage, households that had received a voucher during the 2025 PTV Exercise and continue to meet the income eligibility criterion will automatically receive a PTV. These households will receive their PTV notification letters via post or SMS starting from end-December 2026, based on their indicated contact preference from the previous PTV Exercise.

3.              In the second stage starting from early 2027, households that meet the income eligibility criterion but did not receive a voucher in the first stage can apply for PTVs online or in person at their local Community Centres/Clubs (CCs). Details on the application process will be announced at a later date.

4.           Upon receiving their PTV notification letter, households can follow the instructions on the letter to redeem their voucher via the SimplyGo app or at any SimplyGo Kiosk, Top-Up Kiosk, Assisted Service Kiosk, SimplyGo Ticket Office or SimplyGo Ticketing Service Centre from 28 December 2026 onwards. Vouchers for the 2026 PTV Exercise will be valid for redemption until 31 March 2028. Residents may approach their local CCs if they have any queries.
