MOT Family Raises More Than $500,000 for Community Chest

1.     The Ministry of Transport (MOT) and its statutory boards - the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Land Transport Authority (LTA), Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and Public Transport Council (PTC) - have raised $510,000 for Community Chest, through the MOT Family Charity Outreach programme this year.

2.     Inaugurated in 2010, the MOT Family Charity Outreach programme has raised more than $13.5 million for Community Chest. 

3.     This year, 60 students, their caregivers and staff from Rainbow Centre enjoyed an afternoon at the Changi Experience Studio at The Jewel. The children, aged between 7-12 years old, interacted with and experiencing digital touchpoints at the Changi Experience Studio, including games, projections, immersive shows, and exhibits, to better understand airport operations. 

4.     Rainbow Centre, a social service agency and adopted charity of CAAS, was established in 1992. Rainbow Centre aims to empower persons with disabilities to thrive in inclusive communities. Through practical education, meaningful support, effective training and partnerships, Rainbow Centre creates opportunities for its clients to fulfil their potential and participate in society. 

5.     Mrs Roselyn Vega Saez, the mother of one of the students, said “Rainbow Centre’s teachers have been our family’s partners in nurturing Nate’s growth, providing unwavering support and guidance in every step of the way. Outings with Rainbow Centre allow Nate to explore new experiences in a safe and supportive environment, helping him to grow in confidence and independence.”

6.     Mr Chew Kwee San, Vice-Chairman of Community Chest, said, “Community Chest is heartened by our continued partnership with the Ministry of Transport and its statutory boards, to uplift the lives of more than 82,000 individuals and families in need served by over 200 critical social service programmes. Since 2010, their steadfast support through corporate philanthropy has enabled us to sustain social service efforts. We look forward to strengthening this meaningful partnership with MOT as we build a shared future together this SG60 and beyond.”

7.     Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary of Transport, who presented the cheque to Mr Chew Kwee San, said, “The MOT Family is thankful to have this opportunity to give back to the community, through fund raising and hosted visits to transport facilities such as Changi Experience Studio. We are committed to supporting the Community Chest and hope that our efforts would help make a positive impact for individuals and families in need.”
