Opening Remarks by Ms Sun Xueling, Senior Minister of State for Transport and National Development at GrabRentals and GrabCab Celebration

Good afternoon, everyone.

How is everyone feeling today?

Lovely to see you here on a Saturday with your families. 

很高兴今天看到大家大中午跟着家人一起到GrabCar, GrabRental九周年的这个纪念会。

Firstly, to Mr Alejandro Osorio, Managing Director of Grab Singapore,

Mr Victor Sim, Director of GrabRentals,

Our friends from NTA, Mr Victor Chia, Mr Raven Tan from NPHVA,

Our friend from the Singapore Kindness Movement, Ms Michelle Tay, 

Our driver partners, our families, our friends of our driver partners, who have joined us for today's celebration. 

A very good afternoon, and I'm pleased to join all of you here today to celebrate the ninth anniversary of GrabRentals.

1.     Since it was established in 2016, GrabRentals provided P2P drivers with a wide range of vehicle options to bring large families needing larger vehicles to get around, elderly commuters needing space to put their wheelchairs, and those who just need a ride for their first and last mile journeys. 刚才我走进这个大堂之前，去参观了我们今天很多不同型号的车。不知道大家刚才有没有机会去看一下车, 有去看吗？All these various car models give options to our various drivers, not only to ferry their own family members, but also use the cars to offer ride-hail services to make a living.

2.     While only a few months in, I am also happy to see that there are more driver-partners joining GrabCab, which was launched in July. 今年七月份，Grab 推出了 GrabCab. Taxis offering street-hail services are important. 相信大家也都知道, 德士服务也是非常重要的。Because this serves the needs of commuters unfamiliar with ride-hail apps. 这是因为德士为那些不太会用手机应用程序的乘客提供选择。Street-hail services are important for matching drivers with commuters at locations with very high demand, and we are glad to see GrabCab supporting its taxi drivers with initiatives such as providing them with medical coverage, health talks, health screening, upskilling opportunities and instant payouts for drivers. 刚才我也非常开心听到Alejandro 提到, GrabCab也正在支援我们的司机们, 提供一些医疗的福利。

3.     Grab has also initiated and will be launching the Mutual Respect Campaign today, as part of the Singapore Kindness Movement, with support from our driver Associations, National Taxi Association and National Private Hire Vehicles Association. I am heartened to see the continued collaborative spirit amongst our tripartite partners; because by working together, we can achieve better outcomes for the sector. 今天, 我们也推出新计划鼓励大家更加和谐共处,互敬互重。因为我知道我们的司机朋友们, 天天在路上非常繁忙, 大家也希望我们的乘客能礼让地对待我们的司机朋友。

4.     I would like to show my appreciation to the Singapore Kindness Movement, for continuing the work on encouraging kindness in the P2P sector. The campaign’s focus on mutual respect between drivers and passengers can go a long way in making journeys safer and more pleasant for everyone. 我知道我们的司机朋友们天天非常忙碌开车, 你们也希望乘客能尊敬我们的司机朋友们。如果大家能和谐共处, 相信每个人的日子会更好过一些。It can be as simple as a greeting and saying thank you at the start and end of a trip, or being more understanding of each other when unexpected incidents occur. 那我们怎么互敬互重呢? 其实非常简单, 上下车的时候, 我们是否可以说一声早安啊, 中午好, 还是晚上好呢? 那我们的这个行程结束之后, 我们是否可以说拜拜, 再见, 希望你可以有安全行驶的这个行程。 

5.    Today, Grab will be recognising driver-partners who have been exemplary in their spirit of service. P2P drivers provide more than 600,000 trips daily. 你们知道吗？我们的司机朋友们，每一天承载数以万计的乘客, 趟次超过六十万次。This plays an important role in our transport landscape, especially for commuters who require access to car-like services. Many of you hold yourself to high professional standards in serving commuters, and your contributions have not gone unnoticed as both locals and tourists know and trust that our P2P drivers will get them safely and conveniently to their destinations.
