Parking management companies selling VPCs without designated lots in last three years and enforcement measures taken

Written Reply to Parliamentary Question

Dr Charlene Chen asked the Acting Minister for Transport in respect of the Vehicle Parking Certificates (VPCs)

a.           in the last three years, how many cases are there of parking management companies selling VPCs without designated lots;

b.           whether the Ministry will tighten enforcement against such operators; and

c.           whether the Ministry will consider alternative parking proof mechanisms where systemic gaps are identified.

Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:

1.           The VPC scheme is being reviewed. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) also intends to investigate and strengthen enforcement against errant HVP operators.
