Mr Christopher de Souza asked the Acting Minister for Transport
a. whether an update can be provided on the implementation status for the roll-out of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in public spaces; and
b. whether there are plans to accelerate the roll-out as more EVs are being adopted in Singapore.
Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:
1. There are currently more than 25,000 EV charging points island-wide, of which close to half are publicly accessible. We are on track to achieve our earlier target of deploying 60,000 charging points by 2030, in tandem with EV adoption.
2. For Housing and Development Board (HDB) carparks, there are more than 7,500 charging points installed across about 85% of HDB carparks today. We are on track to provide every HDB resident with convenient access to an EV charger by the end of this year, keeping pace with the progress of EV adoption.
3. Land Transport Authority (LTA) tracks the usage of these chargers. We will continue to keep up with the latest charging technology and work with the community and EV Charging Operators to scale up deployment of EV chargers in carparks with high charging demand, electrical capacity permitting.
