Proposal to Publish Real-Time Train Arrival Data on LTA Datamall

Mr Low Wu Yang Andre asked the Acting Minister for Transport

a.          whether the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will consider publishing real-time train arrival data on the LTA DataMall similar to the existing bus arrival API;

b.          if so, what is the implementation timeline; and

c.           if not, what are the specific technical or security impediments preventing the release of this data for public scrutiny.

Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:

1.          The Land Transport Authority (LTA) does not provide real-time train arrival data online, as intervals between train arrivals are short, and next train arrivals are adequately communicated to commuters at all train stations.
