Dr Neo Kok Beng asked the Minister for Transport whether the Ministry will introduce regulations requiring cyclists to reduce their speed to not more than six kilometres per hour when approaching and crossing pedestrian crossings and traffic lights, to minimise the risk of collisions at these high-conflict zones.

1. Under the current laws, cyclists are already required to stop and look out for oncoming traffic before crossing at pedestrian crossings and traffic lights. To comply, they must approach crossings at a speed that allows them to stop safely. Cyclists are also advised to always give way to pedestrians, keep a safe distance from other path users, and slow down when approaching crowded areas and intersections. These requirements provide sufficient safeguards to ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists at these areas.
