Provision of Alternative Shuttle Bus Services for Commuters Affected by Early Closure of Circle Line Train Services

Written Reply to Parliamentary Question

Mr Fadli Fawzi asked the Acting Minister for Transport 

a.     why alternative shuttle bus services are not provided after 11 pm to meet the needs of evening commuters affected by the early closure of Circle Line train services on some Fridays and Saturdays; 

b.     whether alternative shuttle bus service can be introduced; and 

c.     if not, why not.

Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow: 

1.     The early closure of the Circle Line (CCL) is needed to complete the testing for the opening of CCL Stage 6. When service adjustments are required, alternative options like shuttle buses are not provided if the number of commuters affected is small and there are sufficient available alternative routes.
