Mr Shawn Loh asked the Minister for Transport whether the Land Transport Authority will consider moves to reduce traffic congestion along Balestier Road towards the Central Expressway, which is frequently used by emergency ambulances towards Tan Tock Seng Hospital and KK Women’s and Children's Hospital, such as by removing the permission for roadside parking, and if so, by when. 57
Reply by Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:
1. With the availability of sufficient alternative parking spaces in the vicinity, the Land Transport Authority intends to remove the stretch of roadside parking along Balestier Road near the Central Expressway by end 2026, which will reduce traffic congestion in that area.
