Ms Valerie Lee asked the Minister for Transport whether the Government will (i) review the fixed quantum structure of Public Transport Vouchers to take into account household transport needs, including family size, number of regular commuters and caregiving responsibilities, rather than relying primarily on household income and (ii) assess whether a more needs-based approach could better support families facing substantial commuting expenses.

1. The Public Transport Voucher scheme utilises per capita household income only to simplify the application process and speed up disbursement. Households with more substantial commuting expenses can apply for additional vouchers online or through their Community Centres or Clubs, where applicants’ specific household circumstances and transport needs will be considered.
