Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Communications and Information, Dr Janil Puthucheary, to Attend Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, and Make a Working Visit to London

1.     Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Communications and Information, will be attending the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC) in Barcelona, Spain, and making a working visit to London, United Kingdom (UK), from 12 to 16 November 2018.

2.     During his visit to Barcelona, SMS Dr Puthucheary will deliver remarks at the Opening Session of the SCEWC. At the SCEWC, the delegation will have the opportunity to learn more about smart city and urban mobility strategies around the world, and how these ideas might be incorporated into Singapore’s forthcoming Land Transport Master Plan (LTMP) 2040.

3.     In London, SMS Dr Puthucheary will be speaking on Singapore’s Smart Nation efforts at Asia House, the UK’s centre of expertise on Asia, and will meet with various transport stakeholders to exchange views on common challenges and approaches to urban mobility. He will also host a dinner reception for overseas Singaporeans based in London.

4.     SMS Dr Puthucheary will be accompanied by four members from the LTMP Advisory Panel (LAP), a panel which was formed to advise Land Transport Authority (LTA) on the recommendations for the next LTMP – our land transport vision for 2040. The LAP members in the delegation are:

  1. Mr Baey Yam Keng, Senior Parliamentary Secretary, Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth;

  2. Mr Alan Chan, Chairman, LTA;

  3. Mr Melvin Yong, Assistant Secretary-General, National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), and Executive Secretary, National Transport Workers’ Union; and

  4. Ms K Thanaletchimi, President, Healthcare Services Employees’ Union, and Chairperson, NTUC Women’s Committee.
