Singapore signs Air Services Agreement with Romania

1. Romania and Singapore signed an Open Skies Agreement on 31 May 2018, formalising the Agreement that was concluded in 2008. Under the Agreement, the airlines of Romania and Singapore will be able to fly any number of services between both countries as well as via and beyond to any third country, with no restrictions on capacity, frequency, aircraft type, and routing.
2. The Air Services Agreement (ASA) was signed in Singapore by Mr Loh Ngai Seng, Permanent Secretary (Transport), and Mrs Monica Dorina Gheorghiță, State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania. Mr Teo Chee Hean, Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security of Singapore, and Her Excellency Ana Birchall, Vice Prime Minister for Romania’s Strategic Partnerships’ Implementation, were present to witness the signing.
3. The Open Skies Agreement demonstrates the growing ties between Romania and Singapore as it will enable wider economic benefits through increased investment, tourism, and trade between the two countries. In addition, Singapore also looks forward to further and closer collaboration, including through the ASEAN-EU Comprehensive Air Transport Agreement, to strengthen the two regions' connectivity.
4. Singapore has concluded Air Services Agreements with more than 140 states and territories, of which over 70 are Open Skies Agreements.
