Mr Low Wu Yang Andre asked the Acting Minister for Transport with regard to the $4 per ride fare for the autonomous vehicle trials in Punggol

a.      how did the Ministry arrive at the $4 fare;

b.      whether the Ministry has studied the affordability levels for the population in Punggol; and

c.      if so, what percentage of the target ridership will find this fare affordable.

Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:

1.      The starting fares of the Punggol autonomous shuttles in this pilot phase were determined by the operators in consultation with the Ministry of Transport/Land Transport Authority. We expect the fares to be adjusted over time depending on ridership demand.
