Written Reply to Parliamentary Question
Ms Joan Pereira asked the Acting Minister for Transport whether
a. the Ministry can provide an update on the installation of Red-Amber-Green (RAG) arrows at traffic junctions;
b. the Ministry is on track to install the planned 200 additional RAG arrows by the end of this year; and
c. it would be viable to eliminate all discretionary right turns on our roads by the end of this decade..
Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:
1. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) is close to completing the planned 200 additional Red-Amber-Green (RAG) arrows at signalised junctions. By end-2025, there would be around 1,400 RAG arrows, covering almost all signalised traffic junctions island-wide.
2. The remaining signalised junctions where RAG arrows will not be installed mostly have a single right-turn lane with only one lane of oncoming traffic. LTA will review the need and feasibility for RAG arrows at these signalised junctions when there are road developments and upgrading.
