Utilisation Rate of Public Transport Vouchers

Ms Lee Hui Ying asked the Minister for Transport

a.          what is the annual proportion of households eligible for Public Transport Vouchers that have utilised their vouchers since 2020; and

b.          whether there are plans to enhance public communications and outreach efforts to increase utilisation among eligible households.

Reply by Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow

1.          The take-up rate is 72% for each of the past three years.

2.          Households are required to apply for the public transport voucher for the first time so that we can verify their household information and determine their eligibility. To encourage more households to apply, we have simplified the application process so applicants no longer need to apply subsequently. Disbursements to eligible households which have received vouchers in prior exercises has also been automated. Reminder letters are also sent to those who have not redeemed their vouchers close to the end of the redemption period.
