Mr Murali Pillai asked the Minister for Transport with regard to LTA's plan to expand the shared path network in Singapore to 750 kilometres by 2025, whether priority may be given to constituencies which do not presently have a shared path network.
Reply by Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan:
1. The Land Transport Authority (LTA) had previously planned to extend the network of cycling paths from 440 kilometres to 750 kilometres by 2025 and 1,300 kilometres by 2030. We have decided to accelerate the pace of implementation, and in so doing, LTA will prioritise towns with high e-scooter populations and without existing intra-town cycling networks. LTA will work with local Advisors to ensure that new cycling paths meet their residents' needs.
