Written Reply by Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan to Parliamentary Question on Motor Insurance Payouts from Accidents involving Foreign Motorists

Dr Tan Wu Meng asked the Minister for Transport in the last three years,
a. how many local motorists have successfully claimed insurance payouts from foreign motorists for
i. personal injury and
ii. vehicle damage arising from vehicle accidents within Singapore.
Reply by Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan:
1. Insurance claims are private transactions and we do not have access to the data. We understand that the General Insurance Association of Singapore will assist local motorists in claims against Malaysian insurance companies. We have received very few complaints on this issue.
