Mr Lim Biow Chuan asked the Minister for Transport whether LTA will review the punishment for selling non-compliant PMDs.
Reply by Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan:
1. We take a tough stance against retailers who advertise, display or sell non-compliant personal mobility devices (PMDs), as well as those who provide illegal device modification services. Those convicted of selling non-compliant PMDs for use on public paths may be liable to a fine up to $5,000 and/or jail up to three months for the first offence. We are considering raising the penalties to root out such irresponsible acts.
