Written Reply by Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan to Parliamentary Question on Study on Increase of Vehicular Traffic from E-Commerce and Food Deliveries and Its Implications on Roads, Road Usage and Government's Plans

Mr Dennis Tan Lip Fong asked the Minister for Transport

a.     whether the Ministry has carried out studies to determine the extent of the increase of all types of vehicular traffic arising from e-commerce and food deliveries in the past three years and its implications on our roads, road usage and the Government's plans;

b.     if yes, whether the Government can share its findings with the public; and

c.     if no, whether the Government will consider doing such a study.

Reply by Minister for Transport Khaw Boon Wan:

1.     LTA monitors vehicular traffic on our roads on an on-going basis. Over the past few years, congestion levels have remained stable. LTA does not track vehicular traffic arising specifically from e-commerce and food deliveries. We have no plans to require such data from businesses so as not to impose additional regulatory burden on them.
