Ms Hany Soh asked the Minister for Transport whether more barrier-free covered linkways will be built to ensure first and last mile connectivity from transportation nodes to all community clubs and centres in Singapore.
Reply by Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung:
1. LTA does build barrier-free covered linkways to link Community Clubs and Centres (CCs) to major transport nodes, provided the CCs are within a 400 metre radius of MRT stations or 200 metre radius of LRT stations and bus interchanges, and there are no site constraints. The CCs should also have covered linkways within their premises, connecting their building to their main gate. This is to ensure a continuous sheltered route. LTA will also take into consideration existing alternative sheltered paths to avoid duplication, so that the budget can be allocated to areas without such alternatives.
