Mr Murali Pillai asked the Minister for Transport what is the progress on the national project to widen footpaths and build more cycling paths involving Bukit Batok SMC.
Reply by Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung:
1. Due to COVID-19, which affected the availability of cycling path construction materials and workers, our cycling path projects may be delayed by up to 12 months.
2. The Government remains committed to tripling our cycling paths from 460 kilometres now to around 1300 kilometres by 2030, under the Islandwide Cycling Network programme. This will provide our towns, including Bukit Batok, with a wider active mobility network to support the uptake of active mobility in a way that is safe and convenient for all path users.
