Written Reply by Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung to Parliamentary Question on Progress of Construction of New Bus Depot Near Seletar West Farmway and Plans to Improve Bus Services in Fernvale

Mr Gan Thiam Poh asked the Minister for Transport 

a.     what is the progress of the construction of the new bus depot near Seletar West Farmway; and 

b.     with this new bus depot, what plans are there to improve the bus services in Fernvale.

Reply by Minister for Transport Ong Ye Kung:

1.     Due to the Circuit Breaker and phased re-opening since April this year, the completion of Sengkang West Bus Depot is delayed from 2023 to 2024. This delay does not affect the provision of bus services to serve Fernvale residents, as it is a bus depot and not an interchange.

2.     Residents at Fernvale are currently served by the Sengkang LRT and bus services along Sengkang West Avenue and Sengkang West Way that connect residents to Sengkang Bus Interchange / MRT Station and areas like Ang Mo Kio, Bishan, Hougang and Yishun.

3.     LTA will continue to monitor travel demand and patterns. Where necessary, LTA will adjust the provision of bus services to cater to increases in demand.
