Mr Melvin Yong Yik Chye asked the Minister for Transport
a. since its launch on 1 January 2021, how many vehicle owners have benefitted from the Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI); and
b. how much has the EEAI cost the Government thus far.
Reply by Minister for Transport S Iswaran:
1. As of end 2021, 1,636 electric cars and taxis registered since 1 January 2021 benefitted from the Electric Vehicle Early Adoption Incentive (EEAI). Overall, the proportion of electric cars and taxis registered has increased from ~0.2% in 2020 to ~4.4% in 2021.
2. The rebates given under the EEAI scheme in 2021 are about $30 million.
