Mr Chua Kheng Wee Louis asked the Minister for Transport
a. when does the Government expect to conclude the review of public transport fares for 2022 and the fare adjustment formula; and
b. what is the projected effect on public transport fares arising from the review and potential revision of the Network Capacity Factor (NCF) component in the fare adjustment formula.

1. Due to the evolving COVID-19 situation, the Public Transport Council (PTC) is taking more time to carefully consider all relevant information as part of its annual fare review exercise. At last year’s fare review exercise, the PTC also announced that it would review the Network Capacity Factor (NCF), because the drop in ridership from the COVID-19 pandemic will significantly affect the NCF. The review is currently underway. The PTC will announce its decision for this year’s fare review exercise in due course.
2. The current fare formula is valid until the fare review exercise in 2022. The review of the fare formula will be completed in 2023, for implementation for fare review exercises from 2023 onwards.
