Mr Melvin Yong Yik Chye asked the Minister for Transport
a. over the past five years, how many incidents have there been of flights departing from Singapore having to offload passenger baggage due to poor weather conditions; and
b. whether these incidents happen predominantly to budget airlines.
Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:
1. Airlines may need to offload baggage on a flight due to safety or other operational considerations. There is no requirement for airlines to report such occurrences, and we do not track such incidents at Changi.
