Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Extension of Concessionary Fares for Students in Educational Transition

Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Transport whether the Ministry has considered extending the concessionary fares for students who have just completed their current course of studies, such as GCE “A” Level or International Baccalaureate and are awaiting entry into the next stage of education where they will be eligible for concessionary fares, if proof of admission is provided.

Reply by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     The Member could be asking this question because he may not be aware that students who progress to the universities after their A-levels or International Baccalaureate are paying adult fares on a per journey basis.
