Ms He Ting Ru asked the Acting Minister for Transport whether the Ministry can provide an update on plans to set a deadline for the phase-out of hybrid vehicles so as to promote business and consumer certainty.
Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:
1. All new car registrations will have to be of cleaner-energy models from 2030. By 2040, all cars should be cleaner-energy. Cleaner-energy models include electric and hybrid cars.
2. We currently have no plans to phase out hybrid cars, and are monitoring the adoption of cleaner-energy cars.
