Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Update on Sheltered Bicycle Parking Facilities at MRT Stations and Possibility of Such Installations

Assoc Prof Jamus Jerome Lim asked the Minister for Transport 

a.     how many MRT stations are equipped with sheltered bicycle parking facilities; 

b.     whether LTA is considering installing such bicycle parking areas at all MRT stations; and 

c.     if not, what are the reasons inhibiting such installation.

Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     Currently, 13 MRT stations have sheltered bicycle parking within the station premise. There are also stations with sheltered bicycle parking provided by adjacent developments.

2.     Sheltered bicycle parking lots are provided within stations when there is available space, but this is not always possible as there are site constraints.
