Written Reply to Parliamentary Questions on Assessment of Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle Trials in Singapore

Mr Chua Kheng Wee Louis asked the Minister of Transport 

a.     what has been the assessment of the current hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle trials in Singapore; and 

b.     whether such trials, the associated infrastructure and vehicle types will be expanded as part of Singapore’s National Hydrogen Strategy.

Reply by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     LTA works with our economic agencies to support industry trials, such as the ongoing hydrogen fuel cell vehicle trial in the Jurong Innovation District. 

2.     While electrification is currently the more viable decarbonisation pathway for the land transport sector, especially for cars and light good vehicles, we will continue to monitor developments in other cleaner energy technologies across all vehicle types.
