Ms Valerie Lee asked the Acting Minister for Transport
a. whether the Ministry monitors the pricing of EV public charging services;
b. what regulatory measures are in place to ensure fair, transparent and affordable pricing; and
c. whether the Ministry will consider introducing further measures to regulate prices at public EV charging stations.
Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Jeffrey Siow:
1. Charging prices are commercial decisions and vary depending on operator, location and charger power rating. Tenders for deployment at Housing and Development Board carparks were evaluated on a combination of factors, including operators’ ability to offer competitive charging prices. The Land Transport Authority monitors the EV charging prices at public locations, and will take steps to introduce more competition, if necessary.
