Written Reply to Parliamentary Questions on Awareness of Vehicles Removing Illegal Modifications before Inspections and Reinstallation Thereafter

27 Feb 2024In Parliament
Mr Leong Mun Wai asked the Minister for Transport

a.     whether the Land Transport Authority (LTA) is aware that owners of illegally modified vehicles who are summoned for inspections remove these modifications before inspections and reinstall them afterwards; and

b.     what steps has LTA taken to deal with such occurrences.

Reply by Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     LTA Enforcement Officers would capture photographic evidence of the illegal modifications, and compare these with photographs taken by the Authorised Inspection Centre. If a vehicle owner removes the illegal modifications before inspection, he will still be caught.
