Written Reply to Parliamentary Question on Inspections and Upkeep of Road Signs in Singapore

06 Nov 2023In Parliament
Ms Joan Pereira asked the Minister for Transport

a.     whether there are regular inspections to ensure that road signs are in good condition and remain clear and visible to all road users; and

b.     how often are they maintained and replaced.

Reply by Acting Minister for Transport Chee Hong Tat:

1.     The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has an inspection regime to regularly check road signs, rectify defective road signs, and plan upgrades for road signs.

2.     LTA is also embarking on an island-wide exercise to replace approximately 4,200 road signs across our entire road network progressively commencing from 4Q 2023. This exercise is expected to be completed in three years.
